McConnell: ‘No Chance’ Trump Will Be Removed From Office

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he doesn’t expect the Senate to vote to convict President Donald Trump during its impeachment trial.

Speaking to Fox News’s Sean Hannity on Thursday night, McConnell said that the Senate “has no option” but to hold an impeachment trial.

“Under the rules of impeachment, the Senate then turns to it — has no option but to turn to it. And it’s the sole business until we finish.”

However, he added that he will be in coordination with the White House on how to handle the trial.

“Everything I do during this, I’m coordinating with White House counsel,” McConnell said. “There will be no difference between the president’s position and our position as to how to handle this — to the extent that we can.”

When asked about whether or not the Senate would call witnesses, McConnell said he would defer to White House counsel, saying they may not want to because the case against Trump is “so darn weak.” He added that there’s “no chance” the trial will end with Trump being removed from office.

“The president’s counsel may or may not decide they want to have witnesses. The case is so darn weak coming over form the House. We all know how this is going to end, there’s no chance the president is going to be removed from office.”

Additionally, he suggested that some Democratic senators may join Republicans in voting to acquit Trump.

“My hope is that there won’t be a single Republican who votes for either of these articles of impeachment. And Sean, it wouldn’t surprise me if we got one or two Democrats. It looks to me over in the House, the Republicans seem to be solid, and the Democrats seem to be divided.”

McConnell said that if the House votes pass to the articles of impeachment next week, the Senate would begin its trial in January, adding, “My hope is that it would be a shorter process rather than lengthy process.”

Are you confused by this? If not, why not?

Moscow Mitch has abdicated his Senatorial duty as being the head of an impeachment jury. He has promised AHEAD OF TIME and announced it publicly that he will co-ordinate with the White House. What is this? At the very least he should recuse himself from the Senate trial.

That is NOT the duty of the Senate in an impeachment! Come on! If you want to see a fascistic one-party state form, just look to Mitch McConnell. He is doing it right before your eyes.
